Title
New Orleans: Man-Made Disaster

Katrina was called the worst natural disaster in America in 100 years. . . but the hundreds who died here were not killed by the storm - they were left for days to drown as flood waters rose around them.

And today, the storm isn't what's keeping most of the city's former residents from returning home.A richer, whiter New Orleans is being built in which the city's poor and black majority have no place. While the city moves ahead with its plans to destroy public housing, scattered former residents fight a desperate battle for their right to return home. The outcome will have far reaching consequences. New Orleans is the front line of a national struggle to save public housing and to end the privatization of government services. New Orleans is the model that, if successful, will be reproduced across the country.
